| Schooner | Approximately half a pint of beer (different per state) |
| Buckleys | No chance ie; "you've two chances, Buckleys and none" |
| Pikelets | Small pancakes |
| Lamington | Sponge cake, surrounded by chocolate, dipped in cocount flakes |
| Chips | Either crisps or french fries (fries are "hot chips") |
| Yiros | Kebab, lamb sandwich in a pita bread with garlic sauce |
| Sand Shoes | Trainers, sneakers |
| A park | A parking space, either on the street or car park |
| A serve | An individual serving or helping |
| Hotel | Pub. Often with bars, food, pokies and a lounge, rarely with rooms available to rent - try a motel. |
| Pokies | Slot Machines, one-armed-bandits, electronic poker |
| Footie Tips | Fantasy football league (Australian rules football) |
| Football | Either rugby or Australian rules, not soccer |
| Soccer | Normally the English FA Cup or Premiership |
| Pash | Snog, passionate kiss |
| Root | Shag, grope, roll in the hay |
| Lay-by | Put that item behind the counter and I will pay later, often used for toys before Christmas. Interest free. |
| Rain-check | If they run out of stock of an item when it is discounted, you can get the discount later. |
| Truck | Lorry |
| Thong | Flip-flops - eg "all small children should wear thongs when leaving the beach" |
| Super | Superannuation - a pension fund. |
| Manchester | Bed linen, sheets and table cloths |
| Flat White | White coffee without foam |
| Short Black | Expresso coffee (long black is an Americano) |
